Our commitment to accuracy

Every answer published on howmany.is goes through a multi-step review process before it goes live. Here is how it works:

1. Source identification. We identify the most authoritative sources for each topic. For scientific facts, that means peer-reviewed research and government data. For cultural information, we rely on established encyclopedias and historical records.
2. Fact verification. Every claim is cross-referenced against at least two independent sources. If sources disagree, we explain the discrepancy.
3. Regular updates. Information changes. Population numbers grow, scientific understanding evolves, and records get broken. We review every page on a regular schedule and update the "last reviewed" date when we do.
4. Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it immediately and note the correction. You can report errors using the feedback link at the bottom of any page.

We prioritize information from:
